About this deal

The only toothpaste made using ActiIux®, the patented technology that naturally whitens teeth using light. Thanks to the combined action of Actilux® and the LED Activator, teeth whiten and regain their natural splendour! Blanx is a unique teeth whitening toothpaste in that it doesn’t use the more common ingredients found in many whitening products, instead it uses Arctic Lichen as its main component. This was discovered by accident during research carried out in the Arctic by US Scientists. They noticed that the native people all chewed or rubbed their teeth with the lichen, and that they all had healthy, clean teeth. With over five years’ experience in beauty and health journalism, Florence has written for ELLE, Women’s Fitness, Sister Magazine, National Geographic Traveller and many more, with a strong sustainability angle thread through much of her work. Botanical white is fully UK and EU approved and uses an effective blend of Sodium bicarbonate (well known for its effective teeth whitening abilities) along with many natural ingredients including Camomile, Pomegranate, Vitamin D and Aloe vera. These work to not only whiten your teeth but also help to prevent decay and strengthen the enamel. Enzyme-action: With enzymes usually derived from fruit, this method claims to break down proteins on the teeth that have been linked to teeth staining.

Aqua, Sorbitol, Hydrated Silica, Glycerin, Silica, Isopropy Alcohol, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Cellulose Gum, Aroma, Hydroxyapatite, Sodium fluoride, PVMIMA Copolymer, Cetrana Islandica Extract, Sodium Saccharin, Sodium Benzoate, Benzyl Alcohol, Phenoxyethanol, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Tin Oxide, Cl 77891, Cl 42090. Chemical: This works by using a chemical, either hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide, to whiten teeth. It helps bleach and lighten stains on the enamel to make them appear whiter. Is whitening toothpaste safe? Blanx whitening toothpaste has had a great deal of media attention recently, one article it appeared in was a review of popular teeth whitening products in the Daily Mail. Buffing: Also known as abrasives or polishing, these work by using small scrubbing agents, such as activated charcoal or silica, to remove dental plaque and stains from teeth. Do be aware that sometimes prolonged use can wear down tooth enamel leading to sensitivity. However, those who have sensitive teeth may wish to proceed with caution as the abrasive nature of some whitening toothpastes could cause further sensitivity and damage the enamel. Peroxides can also cause teeth and gums to become sensitive. If you're looking for a dramatic colour change, you may be better off combining one of these toothpastes with a teeth whitening kit. How did the GHI test whitening toothpastes? The Journalist responsible for the Daily Mail Article agreed, giving Blanx a poor 1/10 for its ability to whiten teeth Whitening toothpastes target the enamel (the outer layer of the tooth that protects the sensitive under-layers), using a combination of methods to maximise the effects. As a good general toothpaste – absolutely!! But as an actual teeth whitener; we do feel that there are better products out there, and at a similar price. There is no doubting Blanx’ qualities as an effective toothpaste, however when looking at it from the point of actual teeth whitening, it does seem to fall short of the mark.

Optical: This method uses blue-toned brighteners, which coat your teeth as you brush. When you see the claim “instant whiteness” or “instant brightness”, it's usually this method that provides that immediate difference. It's also the reason why whitening toothpaste may produce a blue coloured foam when brushing. The manufacturers tell us that the Lichen is good at removing bacteria and the stains that adhere to the enamel causing food related discolouration. Being non abrasive, it gives a good and deep cleanse to the teeth without harming the enamel This an EU approved dental grade that gives you everything you need to whiten your teeth by up to 11 shades of white in around 10-14 days. Our panel of 278 testers brushed and rinsed their way through 13 brands of the best whitening toothpastes over an eight-week period. They assessed any whitening effects, stain removal and prevention, and whether the toothpaste increased any sensitivity in their teeth or gums.

Yes. As it's classed as a cosmetic product, it must adhere to strict EU regulations safety guidelines.
