About this deal

The highs and the mids are detailed, balanced, and ample. What they are not, though, is neutral. This is not the flattest response you can get in studio monitors. They do color the sound a little with the signature ADAM timbre. These look incredible for the price. The tweeter adds contrast to the overall look, there are no visible screws in the front, the angled edges add curves to the design, without which this would have looked like a plain old boxy speaker. In short, these are very, very good sounding speakers. Bass is remarkably deep and powerful, reaching down smoothly to around 40Hz before rolling off fairly rapidly, and the overall sound quality is smooth and detailed. Treble is a touch bright – and it remains so even with the high frequency EQ control set to its -2dB position – but it’s not unpleasant to listen to. Overall, I did prefer the T5V with a little bit of software EQ to bring down the top-end by a couple more dB, but it’s not essential: the rest of the frequency range is so balanced, and the bass so extended, that it doesn’t end up sounding overly sharp. Excellent acoustic characteristics, small dimensions and an outstanding cost/performance ratio make this studio monitor perfectly suited for use in small control rooms in music, video and broadcast production. There is a great line in one of my favorite movies, Good Will Hunting: "I don't know that she is perfect... the key is whether you are perfect for each other." The Adam T5V is not perfect but manages the compromises in the this very low price range incredibly well. The ability produce lots of bass and loudly so puts it a clear step ahead of the competition. Yes, you pay a bit more for that but it is well worth it.

The T5V features a 5-inch woofer that is capable of producing deep, rumbling low end, and a 1.9-inch tweeter that delivers clarity in the high end. The new U-ART accelerated ribbon tweeter is mated to a precision waveguide with the same dispersion-control attributes as the High Frequency Propagation (HFP) waveguide used in Adam Audio's flagship S Series monitors. The U-ART tweeter provides you with an incredibly wide sweet spot. This means you are free to move around your desk knowing you will hear the same frequencies while mixing. The compact design of the T5V ensures it can be comfortably fitted onto any desktop and workspace. The source code under Pierre Aubert's work is licensed under GPL (General public license). He didn't perform any of the measurements himself, and instead he compiled all of them into one place, so that makes sense. As ever, the proof is in the listening, and the T5V sounded great in every room I tried them in. The T5V sounded consistently good in my acoustically treated office, in an echoey, wooden-floored living room, and they were quite happy shoved on a desk, bookshelf or on speaker stands, too – something you can’t always take for granted with more traditionally designed hi-fi speakers. This is a problem because it means that Spinorama alone, unfortunately, won't give us all we need. Placement and reflections play an equally important role there too.

Product range

I can say with confidence that the Adams are the best in this price range. They clearly sound as they are "upper shelf" equipment. Simply solid. You tap on it anywhere once and you know Adam was serious about this, as they always are. Apart from that, you get a volume level knob for each speaker, you ideally should match them on both speakers and control the volume elsewhere.

The T5V monitor delivers extremely high performance, producing 106dB SPL per pair. This is provided by the integrated new Class D amplifiers delivering 20W power to the tweeter, and 50W power to the woofer. Delivering excellent transient response and a high dynamic range, the studio monitor provides you with accurate audio. The monitor offers a wide frequency range, with a U-ART tweeter that provides you with a much wider sweet spot. This ensures you can hear the same frequencies when you move around your desk. The small footprint of the monitor ensures it can fit easily into any workspace. The waveguide’s highly uniform dispersion of high frequencies provides an incredibly wide sweet spot that frees you from being glued to a rigid mix position while working. A beveled cabinet with a rear-firing bass reflex port and a small footprint allows placement anywhere in your room, no matter how small, and contains built-in DSP-controlled driver crossovers and equalization as well as multi-way analog connections. Powered with a 50 W Class D amplifier for the woofer and a 20 W Class D amplifier for the U-ART tweeter, the T5V produces SPLs of up to 106 dB per pair. Lightweight and Portable Measurements that you are about to see were performed using the Klippel Near-field Scanner (NFS). This is a robotic measurement system that analyzes the speaker all around and is able (using advanced mathematics and dual scan) to subtract room reflections (so where I measure it doesn't matter). It also measures the speaker at close distance ("near-field") which sharply reduces the impact of room noise. Both of these factors enable testing in ordinary rooms yet results that can be more accurate than an anechoic chamber. In a nutshell, the measurements show the actual sound coming out of the speaker independent of the room. The result isa super-wide sweet spot, balanced frequency output and stunning detail, even in the smallest control rooms. The Ultimate Small-Room Studio MonitorIf you need to hear more bottom end, the T5V is compatible withADAM's Sub7 and Sub8 subwoofers. Specifications

The highs are just silky. Their frequency response is stellar for the money and the clarity they provide is just unheard for this price range. The new U-ART tweeter, a breakthrough solution for use in high-resolution recording and mixing on a budget, goes up to 25 kHz and is mated to a precision waveguide with the same dispersion-control attributes as the High Frequency Propagation (HPS) waveguide used in ADAM Audio’s flagship S Series monitors.

S Series – The Flagship Reference Monitoring Range

The T5V’s design also produces a pleasingly wide sweet spot – the location where you need to sit to get the best stereo image – so you can move around more freely before the stereo image completely collapses towards one speaker or the other. Whether you’re using the T5V in a studio where you might be scooting left and right, or just perched on the end of your sofa, that leeway is very welcome indeed. I substituted the JBL 305P Mark II. Again, no contest. The 305p had far less bass and could not play nearly as loud.

The sound is full in the whole frequency spectrum except from the lows to low mids where they have small dip there, but thats not something that i really miss. I actually think that i helps with the overall clarity of the monitors which is exceptional. It's just something to have in mind for the one's that use them for mixing. If an item can not be repaired, a similar alternative product or cash discount (as defined in this policy) will be offered The T5V offers superb sound at an astonishingly low price. Its accurate, wideband delivery betters some designs at many times the price. It’s a brilliant product." (10/10) MusicTech With its 5” woofer the bass-frequency response of the T5V extends to 45 Hz. The waveguide’s highly uniform dispersion of high frequencies provides an incredibly wide sweet spot that frees you from being glued to a rigid mix position while working.Weighing in at only 5.7kg, the Adam T5Vs are equally well suited on the move. If you frequent multiple studio locations or travel aboard, there's no reason why you can't use these as part of a mobile production setup without compromising clarity and quality. Excellent acoustic characteristics, small dimensions and an outstanding cost/performance ratio make this studio monitor perfectly suited for use in small control rooms in music, video and broadcast production too. Sub Ready These have a dedicated level knob for low and high frequency. You get -2, 0 & +2 for low and high frequency. I've currently set HF to 0 and LF to +2 since I listen to them in a large room and I can really feel the bass anywhere in the room.
