About this deal

On the downside, this keyboard has a high profile and lacks an included wrist rest, which would help to alleviate some of the wrist fatigue from straining your wrists upwards during use. It has a better overall build quality and includes a small toolkit to help you customize your keyboard. I admit that I over-lubed a couple of the switches and I got a couple of double inputs, but the real grief came from my lubing the pre-lubed Glorious plate stabs.

I don’t like super fast switches and, for gaming, I also don’t want heavy switches, so they struck a nice balance here if you’re asking me. Once upon a time Glorious released a Model O in Pink, which I picked up (of course I did as I collect other “cute coloured” mice such as the Logitech G203 in Lilac and White, Razer Viper in Quartz, and the Model O in Pink and White)… As soon as I saw that the GMMK 2 was available in Pink, I had to compare it to the Model O. I’m not a massive fan of this particular logo either but if you swap out the novelty keycap (there’s a regular escape keycap included) you don’t see it anywhere on the board, so that’s all fine. The chassis is made from premium-feeling plastic, while the top plate is made from aluminum and carries over the sides of the keyboard. We purchased the pre-assembled, full-size unit in black, which comes with linear GLORIOUS Fox switches. It keeps the pre-set macros that allow you to control RGB backlighting and cycling through all 18 built-in presets. You can save three profiles onto its onboard memory, and you can have up to three layers of programming and lighting settings per profile. I’m a big fan of utility, but I am also a fan of not having any clutter so with that said, I really enjoy the box the GMMK 2 came in.

Although there's no physical volume roller or knob like on other enthusiast keyboards, you can control media playback and volume control directly by holding the function key and pressing the media keys. The GLORIOUS caters to a more gaming-oriented crowd and has significantly better latency, while the Keychron is better designed as a hobbyist or typist keyboard, so it has a more premium build quality and includes a small toolkit to help you customize the keyboard.

The first thing I noticed about the new GMMK line is the fact that they made some smart design choices, at least for me personally.

I can’t detect any noticeable or annoying rattle, and even though some of the stabilized keys can feel a tiny bit mushy I can’t say that I was ever annoyed by any of this. If you're interested in other options, check out the picks for the best gaming keyboards, the best mechanical keyboards, and the best keyboards. It means you can view them clearly while seated, but the RGB backlighting won't illuminate them, making them hard to see in the dark.which adds a new estimated PCB latency test to the Single-Key Latency section and a new Analog test to the Switches section of this review. The Drop ALT will always hold a special place in my heart because it was one of my first keyboards that got me into the hobby. I say this because Glorious also makes a board that’s aimed at the higher market tiers but it makes no sense comparing keyboards with hand-lubed boutique switches and stabilizers to a mass-produced keyboard that’s aimed at a different audience altogether.
