About this deal

Kaweco continues to develop their products showcasing the quality and design as they release special editions for events such as the 20th World Olympic Games, this helps them gain popularity amongst large companies who appreciate the quality of their pens. So, when Goldspot reached out with an offer to try out their new Kaweco Sport Transparent Fountain Pen exclusive, I thought it would be an excellent time to revisit one of my favorite pens.

Born from rigorous German engineering and design in 1935 as an unassuming plastic fountain pen, the Sport has since added gel pens, ballpoint pens, mechanical pencils, and clutch pencils to the family. Those thousands upon thousands of points of light, performing a captivating spectacle upon the water surface, are mirrored in the high-quality plastic of this fountain pen.

Here it is just a feel of a little friction, giving confidence this pen will not slip in your hands. The octagonal design of the Kaweco means that it won't run away across the desk if you put it down and, in company with others, it marks it out as 'your pen' - it shouldn't accidentally disappear into someone else's pen case! Today, this is reflected in the high quality standards, excellent workmanship and the individual inspection of each product. In the ensuing 125 years, the company continued to grow and today stand as one of Europe's premier fountain pen producers. S.-exclusive Black Crystal is the lone standout, and it has a black nib, medallion, and barrel print. This design dates from 1935, is small enough to fit comfortably in a pocket or purse, but more importantly sits well in the hand.

Honestly, on a pen this small I think I prefer how the Luxe was set up - I love to clip that pen to my pocket or to the front of a notebook. The Skyline Sport features silver detailing on a variety of different body colors, including neutral and stylish hues. The only reason I can think of is due to the weight of the pen resulting in more pressure on the nib, after all I normally have a light touch. The affordable resin model comes in a huge range of colours from the Classic Bordeaux to the transparent Ice and Skyline mint. Yes the Kaweco ones are cheap and work surprisingly well since you slide them over the pen, however it is an additional cost plus they can scratch the pen.
