About this deal

Let me preface by saying that I don’t think the blurb and book are a match… it’s spun from an angle that’s not really there because he never lessens her need for vengeance and she never catches that he has an agenda until he makes a move that forces his hand to either directly lie or tell her the scoop. Anyway, it’s not a blurb that I think paints an accurate picture of this book. Buuuuut…I thought the plot didn’t make much sense and needed a lot more work to start making sense. She wanted to avenge the death of her parents, but the reason why they were killed was so freaking strange and weak. Basically, all that we were told is that her boyfriend killed her entire family, her parents, sister, and brother because she wanted to break up with him and she didn’t answer when he called 10 times in one night, so he just went and killed her whole family, including kids? Really?? You would’ve thought he’d at least try to get to her first before jumping into this OTT killing spree. I needed to know a lot more about the killer to believe he’d do something so drastic. It’s just waaaay too far-fetched for something that isn’t expanded upon AT ALL. And was there any investigation? Why did he just disappear without doing anything to her as well? Why was he so hard to find after all these years? What did he do for the mob? Because at one point it sounded like he was pretty small time, but then he’s actually very rich and successful, so I was very confused. I roll my eyes and slide into my favorite seat. “I didn’t realize I could become an alcoholic from two drinks a night.” From the Hunter to the Hunted - A Romantic Suspense. This is a different type of book than what I am used to reading from this author, but I found Hunter to be just as entertaining and enjoyable as all her others. The heroine, Emma, has been hell bent on revenge for something that occurred to her family many years ago. Hunter is on a mission that he thought would be tied up within a day. Yet, their lives intersect and things get complicated. There are lies and deception that make it difficult for our either one to trust each and yet, they can’t deny the intense chemistry between them. This book had so many twists and turns that kept me guessing. It was a fast paced book with an interesting plot and there are alternating POV, which I feel really added to the story. Hunter is a standalone book with a HEA. My heart does a goddamn flip. It’s enough to make my knees weak and my stomach tumble. “I’ve been waiting for a month.”

She’s strong. A fighter. But, she’s also intelligent about her strengths and weaknesses. Again, refreshing to see an FMC that’s neither damsel nor 24/7 Rambo. Everyone has to start somewhere.” He grins at me and slides over a Long Island Iced Tea, my current drink of choice. “You’re just a little slower at this than my regulars.” She thinks the game is over. That the hook-up failed, and we’ve gone our separate ways. In reality, our time together has just begun. The two of us are going to get to know one another, whether she likes it or not. And that’s not my fault. It’s all on her—her decisions, her actions. Her damn sassy mouth.” Just when Torian is about to deliver justice, the FBI, headed by Agent Anissa Fox, steals his thunder. This series is so much more than I expected. Complex characters...so many twists...intense stories...delicious "heroes"...Just read them!!!!

Customer reviews

This book is what I like to call Navy Blue, meaning there isn’t any clutching of pearls nor is it light and fluffy throughout. Torian makes it his mission to personally learn everything he can about her. While Anissa wants Torian in prison for all the crimes he's committed, Torian vows to break her. Both have ulterior motives and when they decide on a truce, things become complicated. A truce is not the only thing they want. They both have the same goal, they only disagree on the punishment.

That’s…” I want to keep up the recap of our first night together, but my palpitating heart won’t allow it. “That’s not funny.” Book Genre: Adult, Contemporary, Contemporary Romance, Crime, Dark, Mystery, New Adult, Romance, Romantic Suspense, Suspense Dark? Ehhhh… there is a guy that gets slapped around and drugged by the FMC before he dies. Another vengeance kill because he killed the FMC’s family. The MMC skirts the truth of his profession as a contractor. But, dark in the sense that most mafia books are dark? No.

Table of Content

The author threw me right into the action from the get-go. My brain was scrambling to catch up as the female character went through with her meticulously planned information gathering process. And I have to admit, it stayed that way throughout. I never knew what was coming next and if she would accomplish what she set out to do. It was a dangerous plan, but she wasn't worried about her safety. She didn't have anything to lose, and she'd made promises that she was determined to keep. Brent clears his throat then fakes a dramatic yawn, again, like the first night I met Hunter. “I think I might have to call last drinks.” When she first saw him he made an impression, with "eyes that sink into me, whispering promises beyond my wildest fantasies." But she didn't have time for what he had in mind. Revenge had been her focus for 10 long years and she didn't need the distraction of his rippling muscles. She saw herself in him, the way he answered questions with monosyllables and avoided sharing any information about himself. She was good with that. She didn't need to know his life story, she just needed to know what he was hiding below the waistband of his jeans. She didn't expect it to be a gun...

This time I don’t glare. I can barely hold in a grin. His eyes are gleaming at me, taunting in their memory. The gut wrenching pain followed by an overflow of love made my head spin, the twists and turns had me on the edge of my seat throughout. The story itself felt very rushed. One minute you are getting the plot then the next Hunter becomes obsessed out of nowhere. From there it is him being nice to her and her being cold and sarcastic but can’t help but want a “distraction”. Which those distractions were more high school hookups than obsessed hitman spicy.

I will say I was pulled in from this blurb. However, the story just fell a little short for me. There were just certain things that didn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Now with that being said I have said it before and I will say it again I enjoy a book with a strong independent heroine. In this book we get that with Sarah/Steph. She only has one thing on her mind and it is revenge and vengeance. That is until one over the top alpha male named Hunter. Hunter is a hot sexy man that is splashed with mystery. The two of them together did have some sexy times that were hot. Just because this book did not work for me doesn't mean you will not enjoy the book yourself. Remember this is just my opinion. A charcoal shirt is molded to the muscles of his chest. Rough stubble hugs his jaw, and those eyes are exactly how I remember them. Although, they’re not harsh like when we first met, but they’re equally intense. Then there are his lips—pure temptation in motion, the slight curve lifting at one side in a half-hearted smile. I’ve found myself in his absence. I’ve almost become whole again. But until now, I wasn’t sure if I was ready for the final puzzle piece. The biggest, brightest part of being happy.

I explained the situation with my family and went into detail about my search for the man who murdered them. He now knew that Hunter had helped me find Jacob, and thankfully he didn’t pester me for more details when I gave vague references to why my time with both men had come to an end. I felt there were some unanswered questions by the end of the story which I would’ve loved the answers to. But still a very good and fast paced read with a very sweet ending Your third visit this week,” he drawls. “I don’t know if I should be thankful for the company or concerned of impending alcoholism.”

I walk past him to the door, then pause to glance over my shoulder. This time, the tweak of his mouth isn’t a threat or a taunt. It’s pure elation. Undiluted relief. The narration by Maxine Mitchell and Joe Arden is fantastic. Love both these narrators just enhanced the experience. you have to get this book. It is not for the fainthearted but it is a thrill, its a mind game and its all and more (which I will not tell you cause you have to read it and see for yourself) The book is about the fight for survival, for the hunt and Eden drives you round in circle who and when is the hunter and who is the prey. Its sizzling hot, intense and absolute re-read material in my books_love level hahahh Raw emotions at its best !!!!
