About this deal

Flashman is 6feet 2inches (1.88m) tall, weighs 13 stone (180lb; 83kg) (12½ stone in the first book, fourteen stone in the last), has broad shoulders and is attractive to women. [15] [c] He was forced into marriage in the first book, after he "caddishly deflowered" Elspeth Morrison, [3] the daughter of a wealthy Scottish textile manufacturer with whom he had been billeted. [15] Despite being married—and the fact he deeply loves his wife—Flashman is "a compulsive womaniser" [10] who has bedded 480 women by the tenth book in the series, which was set in 1859. [20] Elspeth is also probably unfaithful to him on several occasions. [15] Flashman notes that he has three "prime talents, for horses, languages, and fornication"; [21] he was also described by the master-at-arms of the 11th Hussars as a strong swordsman [22] and was skilled with a lance, particularly at tent pegging. [23] When it is necessary for him to control his fear, he will perform bravely, although is more adept at saving his own skin at the expense of others. [10] Flashman's Lady is a 1977 novel by George MacDonald Fraser. It is the sixth of the Flashman novels. Fraser, George MacDonald (1991). Flashman and the Mountain of Light. London: HarperCollins. ISBN 978-0-00-617980-1.

Raises dastardliness to the level of an art... One of the most amusing and sardonic novels I have ever read!"-- Omaha World Patrice MacMahon - President of the French Third Republic. Flashman is with Grant when he meets with him.A busy man of tremendous energy, Fraser claimed to have written 20 or 30 film scripts. Most of them were never made, but even so, he said, the money was very good. The scripts that did reach the screen were The Three Musketeers (1974), The Four Musketeers (1975), Royal Flash (1975), The Prince and the Pauper (1977), the James Bond film Octopussy (1983), Red Sonia (1985), Casanova (1987) and The Return of the Musketeers (1989). Whitman, Alden (29 July 1969). "Gen. Sir Harry Flashman and Aide Con the Experts". The New York Times. New York. p.26. In addition, the plot is fun, going into unique territories, both for Flashman as well as historical novels in general; I don't know how many books can say the cover nearly the entirety of the Indian Ocean in the span of one novel. And the final third , which takes us to the not-often talked about kingdom of Madagascar almost feels like, as Flashy sort of puts it, a Gulliver's Travels segment straight out of a nightmare.

As a result of drinking inferior champagne after recovering from dysentery, Flashman suffers from flatulence. The noise of his eruptions startles his horse to such an extent it bolts towards the Russian lines, speeding up the British advance. [1] If you like the series, this definitely is one you have to read, but I'm not sure I'd recommend it unless you're taking the Flashman Paper in its entirety. I could recommend this just so more people can see what the kingdom of Madagascar was really like, or what the piracy situation of Singapore was like, which were fascinating, but otherwise, I'd recommend the other two Flashman I've read first over this one. On consideration, perhaps this is better than Flashman 1 in my mind (it's been a while since I read it) but that does give the context to the full Flashman story more than this does. James Brooke - The White Rajah who saves Flashman in Singapore and then takes him to rescue his wife. Flashman is impressed with him despite himself. Ramsay, Allan (June 2003). Flashman is a character in Snooks North and South and Snooks The Presidents' Man by Peter Brian. The protagonist of these books is Snooks, who is another character from Tom Brown's School Days. In Brian's books, Snooks participates in the American Civil War under disreputable circumstances and conceals his identity by using Harry Flashman's name. So the events that would be attributed to Flashman actually occurred to Snooks.
